We are pleased to announce that as of today we have raised over $2,506,610 from our faithful at St. Nicholas Eparchy and beyond.
While our Capital Campaign was to be completed in May 2022, we know now that we must extend the Campaign for at least two years through May 2024. We also know that we must broaden the scope of the Campaign, to pursue new funding avenues that may be available to us.
Here is one of these new avenues we are pursuing to help fund the Campaign. Recently, we applied for a matching grant to the National Fund for Sacred Places – an organization whose mission is to help sustain historically significant and architecturally complex houses of worship. We have successfully passed the first stage of the application process and now our application is being considered for the final review and hopefully approval. If we are successful, we will be awarded $250,000 for the Cathedral restoration with the caveat that we raise an additional $500,000 in matching funds. The terms of the potential grant require that all matching dollars be raised within the program timeframe of October 1, 2021 – April 1, 2023.
To launch this valuable matching fund campaign, we are first directing considerable effort toward the Naming Opportunity Program for the Cathedral Domes. This program is an opportunity to honor and commemorate your loved ones and leave a lasting legacy in the Ukrainian Catholic Community. We hope you will choose to participate in the Naming Opportunity Program and make a very meaningful impact on the future of the Cathedral and the entire St. Nicholas Eparchy.
